Scholarship Description
The Dick French Memorial Scholarship is administered by and funded by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) Lower Columbia/Willamette River Professional Chapter. Scholarship award criteria: scholastic achievement, financial need, and personal qualities such as character and leadership ability.
The scholarship grant of $1,000 will be paid to the applicant’s school with
instructions for funds to be disbursed and monitored.
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible:
a) Applicant is at least 1⁄4 American Indian/Alaskan Native and/or is a recognized member of a federally-recognized tribe.
b) Applicant is a student member of AISES. Student membership is free, AISES website: https://aises.org/membership/.
c) Applicant plans to enroll in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited 4-year college/university or at a 2-year college enrolled in a program leading to an academic degree.
d) Applicant must demonstrate that they have met matriculation requirements of the school at which they plan to enroll.
e) Applicant is planning to major in a discipline relating to the environment such as Biology, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Chemistry,
Entomology, Environmental Science, Hydrology, and related disciplines.
f) Applicant is a resident of Oregon, Washington, or Idaho.
