Scholarship Description
The Bishop Foundation was established in 1972 “for the benefit of young people” and the endowment with ICW began in 2004. Lillian Fleet Bishop was born in Montesano and her father lived and worked in Grays Harbor as a civil engineer. Lillian met her husband E.K. “Ned” Bishop after his move to Aberdeen from Alton, Illinois. Lillian and Ned became wealthy via the lumber industry and from part ownership in Consolidated Aircraft (founded in 1923 by Lillian’s brother Rueben). Applicants must have a permanent residence located in Grays Harbor County. Demonstrated financial need is required. Not automatically renewable.
