Scholarship Description
Peter B. Orlik was founder and a member of Central Michigan University’s Broadcast & Cinematic Arts program from 1969 to his retirement in 2017. A native of Hancock, Michigan, he earned his PhD from Wayne State University in 1968 after serving as a Mass Communications Instructor for three years. Selected for BEA’s 2001 Distinguished Education Service Award he also was admitted into CMU’s Media Hall of Fame in 2024.
In 2003, Orlik was inducted into the Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame and is the author of five textbooks. Now that he’s retired, he has returned to his first love, the clarinet, and plays in a local band. Currently, he sits as BEA’s Scholarship Committee Chair, continuing to uplift students and providing them with pathways to their future.
