Scholarship Description

The Black Heritage Society (BHS) is offering a $2000 scholarship to one student who identifies as African American and who is presently in their senior year of high school at one of Washington State Public School Districts.

BHS is committed to supporting Washington State African American youth in their pursuit of higher education. To that end, the BHS Founders Scholarship Fund has been established to help with college/university expenses.

Eligibility is as follows:
- Applicants must be a high school senior who identifies as African American attending a high
school within one of the Washington State Public School Districts.
- Applicants must be enrolled at the specific High School from which they will graduate.
- Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of graduation.
- Applicants must be accepted for entry into a two- or four-year college or university at the time of receipt of the BHS Scholarship in June of their graduating year.
- Applicants must complete the two-page questionnaire provided, which includes a short essay
of approximately 200 words.
