Every year, Let Grow asks U.S. high school seniors to think about the importance of independence, curiosity, and open-mindedness in their everyday lives. This year, we are increasing our award amounts! We will award an $8,000 scholarship to the Grand Prize Winner, and $2,000 each to three Runners-Up. This is the simplest scholarship anyone can apply for, and our awards can be used for traditional university, community college, or trade school.  Since launching in 2018 we have received over 33,000 entries and awarded $57,000 in college scholarships. This scholarship will close once it receives 5000 applications.

This scholarship aims to support students who plan to spend their lives changing the world for the better and working towards peace and justice. Any undergraduate or graduate student who is a first or second-generation Algerian or Palestinian immigrant studying journalism, communication, media, international law, government, and international relations, policy and political science, global leadership, teaching, civil society, or a related field may apply for this scholarship. Extra bonus points if they have a track record of working toward justice, peace, prosperity, and dignity for all around the world. The National Greenhouse Manufactures Association Scholarship targets students majoring in horticulture and bioengineering or the equivalent and are at least a junior at an accredited four-year college maintaining a 3.0 GPA.

The Marian Wood Baird Scholarship is available to high school seniors who have excelled academically, demonstrated achievements in leadership and participated extensively in an organized community tennis program (such as USTA School Tennis, USTA National Junior Tennis League (NJTL), USTA Team Tennis or USTA High Performance or other such qualified programs as determined by the Scholarship Committee). Applicants must demonstrate sportsmanship on and off the court. The recipient of the Marian Wood Baird Scholarship is eligible to receive $3,750 per year for a total of up to $15,000 to cover costs of tuition, room and board and educational materials. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university in which the student is enrolled and is disbursed annually based on the recipient's standing with his/her college.

The Tuinier Scholarship is awarded to sophomore, junior or senior undergraduate students enrolled in the floriculture program at Michigan State University.

The Garcia Family Scholarship Fund is intended for students attending a two-year college, or Junior or Seniors attending a four-year institution with a career focus on the marketing or distribution of floral products, including retail, wholesale, manufacturing and/or floral business ownership/operations.

The Ferriss Horticulture Scholarship will be awarded annually to an undergraduate student entering their junior or senior year who is majoring in Horticulture or Plant Sciences, with a career interest in herbaceous ornamental plants and floriculture industry. Preference will be given to students who have a demonstrated interest in commercial greenhouse production of herbaceous ornamental or floriculture crops (i.e., non-edible, non-medicinal crops), research related to the production, physiology, or breeding of herbaceous ornamental and floriculture crops, and/or the sales and marketing of herbaceous ornamental and floriculture crops. The applicant should have a cumulative GPA of 2.6 or greater.

The CalFlowers Scholarship is for undergraduate students attending an accredited California college/university (first priority) or an undergraduate California resident attending an accredited college/university elsewhere in the U.S. Students do not need to be majoring in an agricultural program, but must demonstrate a commitment to seeking employment in the floriculture industry after graduation. A work history or meaningful internship experience in floriculture is necessary if not obtaining an agricultural degree. GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The newly established Dewar Family Scholarship Fund will be awarded to an undergraduate student (or students) in their junior or senior year, studying environmental horticulture with an emphasis and focus on a career in floriculture.

This award is intended to develop knowledgeable, creative individuals who will improve the floriculture industry. The Van Namen Scholarship requires students to have a career interest in agribusiness marketing and distribution of floral products and be of sophomore, junior or senior standing.

The Bettinger Scholarship is intended for horticulture students, sophomore through graduate levels, who have a major or minor in business and/or marketing with the intent to apply their education to a horticulture-related career business.

The CCD Law Spokane Community Scholarship is available to high school seniors who reside in Washington and will be attending college in the fall. The scholarship award is $500.

This scholarship was established in memory of the late Bob Gunther, owner of Gunther’s Greenhouses & Florist in Oceanside, NY. It is intended for students from Long Island and New York studying ornamental horticulture at a community college or four-year institution in New York. This includes floriculture, landscape maintenance, landscape design, turf and any other courses of study related to ornamental horticulture. Robert Edward “Bob” Gunther was treasurer a Board member for LIFGA for many years and instrumental in the establishment of LIFGA’s first scholarship. Gunther received the LIFGA Lifetime Achievement Award. He and his brother Fred took over the family business in 1969. Bob ran the business up until the time of his passing in 2015 at age 85.

This scholarship is dedicated to the outstanding accomplishments of those in university extension and especially to Will Carlson in floriculture. The Meister scholarship is open to graduate students in floriculture intending to pursue their career in the land-grant university system with an interest in research, extension or teaching.
