The Kieth and Serena Cockrell Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance in the form of annually renewable, need-based scholarships to students who have a permanent residence in North Carolina to get to and through college. Every year GPLLA offers candidates a chance to apply for student scholarships as well as grants for working information professionals. GPLLA awards scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to promising LIS students interested in pursuing a career in law librarianship. The Robert W. Cook Eagle Scout Scholarship is awarded twice a year to Eagle Scouts to help defray the costs of their post-high school education. The scholarships vary in amount up to $1,000 (or $2,000 for Tri-County area residents) and may be used for Undergraduate, Graduate, Continuing Education ($100 per course), Professional Education, or Trade School (up to $500) courses. East Olympia Elementary is offering a $500 scholarship. 1. Applicant must be a former East Olympia Elementary student. 2. Applicants must graduate from high school with a GPA of 2.8 or greater. 3. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to their academic success in high school and beyond. Participation in activities and an attendance record of 90 percent or higher are a plus. 4. Rizing Tide will annually award the Crest scholarship to 20 students who are pursuing a physical therapy degree—and who come from an underrepresented racial and/or ethnic background. Natural disasters such as flooding lead to injuries, death, and the displacement of entire communities. To make matters worse, climate change has led to an increase in the frequency and cost of these disasters, making them more dangerous and more devastating. Out of the ten years in history with the highest number of natural disasters, eight have occurred in the last decade. Flooding and severe storms are increasing the most, as 45% of all flooding disasters have occurred since 2013. This scholarship aims to support undergraduate students who are focusing on water resources to help communities that have been impacted by floods. The AKC Humane Fund’s mission is to promote the cause of responsible pet ownership. Our newest grant opportunity will provide scholarships for students who are pursuing educational programs that include responsible pet ownership in their curriculum.
