The Thomas J. Bannan Scholarship program for students in Seattle University's College of Science and Engineering awards scholarships to both current students and new transfer students who have junior or senior standing in the fall of the award year. A Bannan Scholarship is a merit award of $6000 per year. Initial award criteria for the scholarship includes having a junior or senior standing by fall of the award year as a continuing student or new transfer student, as well as a GPA of 3.5 or higher for previous college-level work. For juniors, this two-year award is subject to academic performance demonstrated by maintaining a GPA of 3.0 and active participation in the Bannan Scholars Enrichment program. The Maxwell Scholarship was established to assist high school seniors from Western Washington in obtaining a higher education. For freshmen starting college during the 2025-26 academic year, scholarships will be $5,000 per year. This award has the potential to be renewed for up to an additional three years of undergraduate education based on reasonable progress toward graduation. Description: The scholarship is a combination tuition/work grant for a Yakima Valley Community College student planning for an academic degree and/or professional career in an area of health and physical education, athletics, or recreation leadership. Eligibility: The scholarship is available to a high school graduate who plans to enroll at Yakima Valley Community College, and to all students currently enrolled at YVCC who plan on returning for another year. The Joseph S. Rumbaugh Historical Oration Contest is open to all students attending 9th through 12th grades in public, parochial or private schools; or home-school students studying at the same grade levels. The preliminary rounds of the contest begin at the local chapter level; students have the opportunity to advance to the state or national levels where scholarships and cash prizes are awarded. It is our intent that the contest will continue to expand on all levels and bring the voices of our young patriots to greater light across our entire nation. Participants must write an original oration of not less than five minutes, or more than six minutes. The oration must be delivered from memory and without the use of notes or any kind of props. It is essential that each oration show the relationship it bears to America today. Evidence of historical research and creative presentation are also important. The oration will be judged based upon its composition, delivery, significance, historical accuracy, and relevance to our 250th anniversary. Three cash/scholarship awards are given: First Place Winner receives $8,000 2nd Place Runner-up receives $5,000 3rd Place Runner-up receives $3,000 cash prize. Each also receives an Olympic-sized medal. The three non-placing finalists are each awarded $500 cash. AASPA will annually award up to two scholarships to assist a candidate seeking their initial teaching certification endorsement. Each scholarship will be given in the amount of $3,500.00. The Steps For Change Scholarship is an income and merit-based scholarship awarded up to three high school seniors applying to a college or university with a $2,000 scholarship each to pursue their career goals. One Earth Young Filmmakers Contest is open to students from grade 3 through university and above, based on the student’s grade level (through age 25). As an example of the appropriate entrant category, students who have completed grade 11 at the time of making/producing the film and submit an entry before commencing grade 12 will be considered entrants for grade 12. The Contest accepts submissions from students living outside the U.S. Entrants may submit a film of no shorter than 3 minutes and no longer than 8 minutes. However, the sponsor will accept and consider short animated films. The minimum length for animated submissions is 45 seconds. Topics differ based on age group.

She had over 27 years of experience as a registered nurse and aided in the delivery of an estimated 3,000 babies in Tri Cities, WA. Her passion for nursing was cut short in August 2021 when she was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She spent her last few months on Earth living it to the fullest, knocking things off her bucket-list, and continuing to inspire others before passing away peacefully in January of 2022. She was a loving mother, wife, and friend, and left behind a legacy of compassion and strength. To honor her memory, the Martha Galvez Memorial Scholarship will support a hardworking, motivated student who plans to pursue a career in nursing.
